Alpine, CA – Man Struck & Killed on I-8 Shoulder near Willows Rd
Alpine, CA (February 14, 2020) – A man was fatally struck while working on his truck in Alpine, California on Friday afternoon, February 14th. The accident took place on the right shoulder of I-8 WB near the exit for Willows Road at around 1:30 p.m.
A 70-year-old man from Lemon Grove struck the 24-year-old man as he stood next to his pickup.
The Lemon Grove man’s Lincoln MKZ was traveling in the right lane of I-8 WB when his vehicle veered onto the shoulder, striking the victim and his truck. The victim was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The identity of the deceased is currently pending family notification. An ongoing investigation into the crash is underway.
