Chula Vista, CA – UPDATE: Another Victim Identified in I-5 Crash

Chula Vista, CA (February 5, 2020) – Authorities have identified another victim killed in the wrong-way collision on I-5 in Chula Vista, California on Saturday morning, February 1st. The crash occurred near the intersection of I-5 and L Street at around 4:45 a.m. The crash occurred when a black truck traveling north on the southbound lanes of I-5 collided head-on with another vehicle and causing a chain-reaction crash. 

Janet Alicia Chavez-Calixto, 24, was fatally struck in the crash. Her Chevrolet Malibu was one of seven vehicles involved in the accident. Chavez-Calixto and David Ramirez, 23, were both killed in the accident, and two others were transported to nearby medical facilities for the treatment of sustained injuries. 

Updates on the crash are still incoming. An investigation is currently in progress.
