Cycling Collisions in California
There were 45,000 reported bicycle accidents in the United States in 2015. While this is a decline from the previous year, cycling fatalities have increased by nearly 12 percent. 4 percent of roadway deaths in California involve bicycle crashes, two times the national average of 2 percent.
Cyclists, even when they follow the necessary safety protocol, have little protection when colliding with a motor vehicle. Common road hazards like potholes, ice, cracks, or slick roads are a much greater risk for cyclists than drivers. Car crashes can leave riders paralyzed, as amputees, or with other types of permanent disability.
At the Coastal Legal Center, our team of California bicycle crash attorneys advocates for innocent riders who have faced injury and harm due to careless drivers.
