Cardiff, CA – Man Escapes Ambulance, Killed on I-5 at Birmingham Dr
Cardiff, CA (February 23, 2020) – A man in Cardiff, California was killed after being hit by a car on Saturday night, February 22nd. The man had reportedly escaped the back of an ambulance on I-5 while in transport to VA Hospital in La Jolla, California. There were allegedly two attendants in the back with the man, who escaped his restraints and jumped out of the vehicle, which was reportedly traveling at 50 miles per hour.
The man survived the jump but was struck by a BMW SUV near the intersection of I-5 and Birmingham Drive at around 6:35 p.m. The man was killed due to the impact. The identity of the deceased party isn’t known at this time.
Local authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
