Escondido, CA – UPDATE: Cyclist Joseph Palacios Killed on Grand Ave

Escondido, CA (March 16, 2020) – The 21-year-old cyclist who was killed in a fatal car accident in Escondido, California has been identified by authorities. Joseph Palacios was struck by an oncoming vehicle on Friday, March 6th. The crash occurred at the corner of East Grand Avenue and South Cedar Street at around 8 a.m. 

Initial reports revealed that Palacios was hit by a Dodge Grand Caravan traveling east on Grand Avenue. The cyclist struck the front passenger side of the minivan. Palacios was pronounced dead before he could be taken to a hospital. 

The 38-year-old man driving the Dodge stopped and cooperated with authorities. An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress.
