Oceanside, CA – Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Amtrak near Surfrider Wy

Oceanside, CA (March 1, 2020) – A pedestrian was killed on Saturday night, February 29th, in Oceanside, California after being hit by an Amtrak train. Authorities reported that the accident occurred at the pedestrian crosswalk located near the 200 block of Surfrider Way around 1:19 a.m. Investigating authorities found that the engineer was traveling at 55 miles per hour when he noticed the man attempt to cross the railway. 

Few details on the crash are available at this time. The victim was identified as a white male, but no other information is currently known. The identity of the deceased party has not yet been released.

An investigation into the crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
