Ramona, CA – Pursuit Ends in Head-On Crash at CA-78 & Indian Oaks Rd
Ramona, CA (May 3, 2020) – Escondido police arrested a 26-year-old man after crashing a stolen vehicle in Ramona, California on Saturday, May 2nd. At around 9:09 a.m., officials spotted Matthew Ruiz driving a 2002 silver Toyota Tacoma that had been reported stolen. The driver sped off following a routine traffic stop, and a pursuit ensued.
The Toyota traveled down CA-78 when the driver lost control of the vehicle near Indian Oaks Road. The pickup struck a concrete barrier and another vehicle head-on before falling down an embankment and catching fire. Two people in the sedan were treated at the scene for sustained injuries.
Ruiz also suffered injuries in the crash. Local authorities are currently investigating the accident.
